Los Altos Mexican Restaurant in Story City

Love the food and staff and very clean. We are from Texas so we are picky about our Mexican food and it was great.

Gave 1 stars for effort! Salsa was watered down food was not really good at all rice was undercooked and dry. All 4 meals that we ordered were terrible. Good thing this was a one time experience! Only thing that was good was the water and queso cheese sauce the chips was even terrible. Smh!

The best fajitas I've ever had, hands down!Visited this place while driving back from Des Moines and it seemed like the only restaurant we'd like to eat in compared to regular freeway restaurants. And I don't regret it at all!The chicken fajitas were excellent and I could've kept eating more and more. The quantity is perfect as well. Their shrimp options aren't as awesome as the other chicken dishes. Even the beans were tasty and the food wasn't drizzled with cheese as some other restaurants like to do. Service was a little slow owing to the weekend dinner time we were here for. But still, if I'm ever driving to or from Iowa, I'd definitely be visiting here again!

Had a party of 7 with 3 kids. Service and food was good. The 3 kids meals looked like something I would eat. Margaritas were great too.

This was my first visit to this restaurant, but it won't be my last. My favorite is still Mi Mexico in Clive. But this is the first time in a long time I've found a place that could measure up to what I like.Lunch menu was very inexpensive by my standards. Food was ready FAST!Food was GOOD!As Arnold Schwarzenegger said, "I'll be back!"

Very nice cozy environment, roomy and lots of menu choices. I went with the fajita chicken taco salad loaded with veggies and spicy shredded chicken, it was very good. My daughter had enchiladas rice and beans she said it had lots of flavor and was the best enchiladas she’s had in a long time thank you 😉🌮

Great food and service! I recommend this place. My wife and I love the Taco Salad and the refried beans. The food and service is always great!!!We'll be back whenever we're in the area.

H.o.l.y c.r.A.p. I can not possibly recommend this enough. Like, crazy good. CRAZY good. Great service, music, and entire asthetic. My most recommended item has to be the Sammy's burrito, but beware, it's giant🤣✌️❤️

2 star because it shows they can deliver, but when you call they don't have enough people to deliver. The lady that answered was super nice and apologized.

This is a family enterprise - hostess was a young girl, seating us professionally. Friendly staff. Wide variety on menu with lots of vegetarian and fish choices. Affordable wine. We had a very pleasant time.

I'm an over the road truck driver and I rarely am able to find a good Mexican food restaurant due to lack of parking availability. Anyhow, I was lucky enough to have a delivery in this small Story City Iowa town. I came across this GREAT restaurant. They outdo their selves with portion sizes and quality of the food. I definitely know where I'll be stopping if I'm ever in Story City again.

We've been going to Los Altos and enjoying it for years. Great food, good people and remarkably fast service. It's our go-to for Mexican food, and it's closer to home than many restaurants that could learn a few things from them..

Kids meal portions are pretty large! Don't be embarrassed as an adult to order them. I enjoy the beef burrito the most.

Stopped in today for lunch with a co-worker from out-of-state. He was very impressed with the food portion and the quickness of service! Excellent small town restaurant! Keep up the good work!

Driving through town for a stop and a quick bite. Service was there and ready with a hot plate of food. Surprised with how readily available food was. Environment was a little loud due to close quarters, but the people around that knew each other in the community seemed to have a good and friendly time. Good experience all in all. Would recommend.

Very quick service and the food was very good. The outside doesn't look like much but the inside was recently redone. I had the fajitas and they were spot on. If you're in the mood for your typical Mexican this is the place to go

Greeted promptly, took drink order,returned with chips and salsa. Ordered 4 tacos Mexican style, potions were more then adequate.

Amazing food, fast service, great margaritas! Can't ask for more! I have the chicken chimichanga which was excellent, and my husband tried the patron dinner and he loved it! I stole one of his bacon wrapped shrimp...SO good. Will definitely be visiting again!

Fave local choice. Time commitment if eating main course vs appetizers though. Patio is popular for after-work drinks. Food pretty tasty and authentic.

Food was good as well as the service

My beef nachos were very runny making my chips soggy. The waitress never came back to check on us so I couldn't say anything until everyone was done and we were waiting for the check. She did take it off which was much appreciated, but it would have been nice to have an option to get something else right away had she come to check on us.

Amazing food! Service was quick and the food was hot and very delicious! I drove over 50 minutes one way to be able to eat there again. I am a very particular eater and was not disappointed. Will definitely do it again! Do not miss this eating experience!
